Regenerative Medicine for Pain: Is Your Body the Key to Relief?

Are you looking for a noninvasive, nonaddictive, and effective way to manage your pain? With platelet-rich plasma (PRP), a revolutionary new regenerative medicine treatment, you can find long-lasting relief from many forms of chronic pain.

Our pain management doctors and providers at Integrity Pain & Wellness find that regenerative medicine is an effective alternative to more invasive treatments like surgery for many chronic pain patients.

Learn how your body can be the key to relief through regenerative medicine.

What is PRP?

PRP is a form of regenerative medicine. Regenerative medicine is an incredibly promising new form of medicine that uses your body’s own self-healing capabilities to treat chronic pain.

PRP is a special solution filled with your platelets. When we create this solution, we separate your blood and mix the platelets into a highly concentrated solution that’s significantly more potent than the platelets in your blood.

These platelets have high growth factors, which have healing and regenerative qualities. When you receive a PRP treatment, the concentrated solution helps heal the source of your  chronic pain by regenerating new, healthy blood and tissues in the area.

Who can benefit from PRP?

PRP is a safe and effective treatment that’s been used in healing chronic pain for more than a decade. PRP can be an effective alternative to invasive surgery and its potential for risk of complications or taking pain medication that can be addictive.

You might benefit from PRP if you have a chronic pain condition like:

As research on PRP continues, the list of conditions it treats is growing. Our team can determine if PRP is a good option for your chronic pain.

How does PRP treatment work?

PRP is an outpatient treatment. You can get it at one of our comfortable offices or an outpatient center.

Making the PRP solution

Before we start the treatment, we need to create the solution. We can do this ahead of your treatment and store extra PRP for future sessions, or prepare and mix the solution immediately before your treatment.

We draw blood to create the PRP solution. After we mix it, we place the mixture in a centrifuge.

The centrifuge separates your platelets from the rest of your blood, then works to concentrate the platelets into an especially concentrated solution. You can expect this entire process to take about 15 minutes.

Getting PRP treatment

We inject the PRP directly into the place you feel pain or the source of the pain. We determine the best injection site, sometimes using additional tools like an ultrasound.

After cleaning the site, we might also administer local anesthesia, depending on the area of the injection and your preferences. Then we inject the PRP.

You can go back to your regular routine right after getting the injection. You might experience some swelling, soreness, or mild discomfort initially.

It takes several weeks to several months for PRP to create regenerative healing that reduces your pain. Some people only need one injection to significantly reduce pain, while we recommend multiple treatments for others.

If you’re a chronic pain patient looking for a long-term, painless solution, PRP might be right for you. Contact us at one of our locations to get started with treatment. We have offices in Scottsdale, Mesa, Glendale, and Prescott, Arizona.
